In Pursuit of a Circle literally began with a smile. A starting point of the characteristically recognizable smiley-face programmed on AutoCAD, which was manipulated in different ways for each individual drawing. The AutoCAD data was then imported into a computer-numerical controlled routing machine outfitted with a custom inch and half paintbrush that was dipped in India ink. All of the robotic movements were automated including the brushe's speed, depth and rotation. This project was made at the TechShop San Jose.

In Pursuit of a Circle consists of eighteen individual one of a kind drawings, India-ink on Rives BFK with alcohol-based, rubber-stamped printed elements, 22" x 30" (each). 2016
